Science: Out of This World Online is designed to supplement middle school science courses with over 1300 pages of science content, 170 lab activities, streaming audio and video clips, and links to space and science resourses. Science: Out of This World Online has a non-linear structure so that students can jump from topic to topic. This gives both students and teachers flexibilty in determining which topics to cover, and in what order. By logging into the teacher section of this site, teachers can create Visits for their students. A Visit is content that has been organized by the teacher into a linear lesson for the students.

Throughout this site, topics are organized thematically, in that content from many science disciplines is integrated into related themes.
